How Much Does a Website Cost in Malaysia? (2026 Pricing Guide)

Planning a website budget in Malaysia — calculator, cost charts and a laptop on a desk

Ask five web agencies in Malaysia how much a website costs and you will get five very different answers — anywhere from RM500 for a rushed template job to RM50,000 for an enterprise build. That spread confuses a lot of business owners, and it is one of the most common reasons Malaysian SMEs put off building a proper website altogether. This guide lays out realistic 2026 price ranges, explains what actually drives the cost up or down, and covers the ongoing costs many agencies only mention after you have signed.

One note on where these numbers come from: Stacky is a founder-led web design studio in Kuala Lumpur, and we publish our own transparent pricing rather than hiding it behind a sales call. The figures below are our actual price list, so you can use them as a benchmark even if you end up hiring someone else.

Typical website price ranges in Malaysia

For a professionally built, custom-coded website in Malaysia in 2026, here is what you can realistically expect to pay:

  • Starter website — RM1,500: 1 to 3 pages, delivered in about a week
  • Business website — RM3,500: up to 8 pages with custom design, blog and on-page SEO
  • Pro website — RM7,500: up to 12 pages with bespoke design, animations and advanced SEO
  • E-commerce website — from RM12,000: a full custom online store with payment gateway
  • Custom web application — tailored quote, based on scope

Template-based providers will quote lower, and large agencies will quote higher. But if you are comparing custom work — sites designed and coded for your business rather than assembled in a page builder — these bands are a fair reference point. Every Stacky package also includes 3 months of free hosting.

Starter websites: RM1,500

A Starter site suits a new business that needs a credible online presence quickly: a home page, a services or about page, and a contact page, live in roughly one week. It will not include a blog or deep SEO work, but you get a fast, professionally designed site you are happy to put on a name card. For many sole proprietors and newly SSM-registered businesses, this is the sensible first step — you can always expand it later.

Business websites: RM3,500

This is the most popular tier for Malaysian SMEs, and for good reason. At this level you get up to 8 pages with a fully custom design, a blog, on-page SEO, a lead capture form and WhatsApp integration — which matters here, because most Malaysian customers would rather message you than fill in a form. Delivery takes around 2 to 3 weeks. If your website needs to actively bring in enquiries rather than just exist, this is usually the right starting point.

Pro websites: RM7,500

The Pro tier suits established businesses in competitive industries — clinics, law firms, property agencies and the like — where design quality and search visibility directly affect trust. You get up to 12 pages, a bespoke design with animations, and advanced SEO work. The difference over the Business tier is depth: more pages, more design refinement, and more time spent on how the site performs in search.

E-commerce websites: from RM12,000

Online stores cost more because they do more. A proper build includes a custom storefront, product and inventory management, customer accounts, order notifications and a payment gateway — iPay88 for FPX and local cards, or Stripe for international payments. Stacky's e-commerce website development package also includes 90 days of post-launch support, because a store has far more moving parts to bed in than a brochure site. If your needs go beyond standard e-commerce — booking systems, member portals, internal tools — that becomes a custom web application, quoted per project.

What actually affects the price

Page count is the most obvious factor, but rarely the biggest. The real driver is custom versus template: a template site is assembled from pre-made parts, while a custom site is designed and coded for your business specifically. Custom costs more upfront, but it loads faster, looks like nobody else's, and avoids the bloat that generic themes tend to accumulate.

Payments add genuine complexity. Accepting FPX bank transfers through iPay88 involves gateway registration, integration and testing, and Stripe adds international card support on top. Integrations matter too — a WhatsApp click-to-chat button is quick, while syncing with a CRM or booking system takes proper development time. Finally, copywriting is the hidden variable: supply finished text and you save money; ask the agency to research and write it and the quote will reflect that.

Beware of too-cheap websites

You will see RM500 websites advertised, and in fairness they are not a scam — they are template installs with your logo and text dropped in. If that is genuinely all your budget allows, it beats having nothing. But go in with your eyes open: you will likely share a design with hundreds of other businesses, the underlying theme is often slow and heavy on mobile, ranking on Google becomes an uphill climb, and some providers lock you in with unclear ownership terms or surprise renewal fees. A common pattern across the industry is a business paying RM500 now, then paying again for a proper rebuild once the site starts holding them back. Before committing, ask who owns the site, what the recurring fees are, and how fast it loads on a phone.

Ongoing costs: what to budget after launch

A website is not a one-off purchase. Budget for a domain name (typically around RM40 to RM80 per year for a .com or .my), hosting, and maintenance. Every Stacky package includes 3 months of free hosting; after that, our website maintenance plans start at RM50 per month (RM500 per year) for Essential, with Growth at RM150 per month and Pro at RM350 per month for busier sites. All plans cover hosting, security updates, backups and support, with a response within 1 business day during business hours (Monday to Friday, 10:00 to 17:30 MYT). Whichever agency you choose, get these numbers in writing before launch — recurring fees are where hidden costs usually hide.

Questions to ask any web agency

Before you sign with anyone — including us — ask these:

  • Is the quote fixed and itemised, or will extras appear once work starts?
  • Is the site custom-coded or template-based — and will you tell me plainly which?
  • Who owns the domain, the code and the content after I have paid?
  • What loading speed are you targeting, and how will you measure it?
  • What will hosting and maintenance cost after launch, and what is your support response time?
  • If I need to sell online, which payment gateways do you support — and does that include FPX?
