Why We Host Every Website on AWS (and What That Means for Your Business)

Hosting is the part of a website nobody thinks about until it fails. So this post explains, in plain language, why every website we build and maintain runs on Amazon Web Services — and what that actually means for a Malaysian business owner who just wants the site to work.

What AWS actually is

Amazon Web Services is the cloud infrastructure arm of Amazon, and it is the largest cloud provider in the world. Banks run on it. Streaming services run on it. Government systems and global brands run on it. That matters not because big names are impressive, but because of what it implies: data centres with serious physical security, redundant power and networking, and an engineering standard that a budget shared-hosting company in a rented rack simply cannot match.

Serverless, in plain language

Instead of your website living on one machine that must be maintained, patched and rebooted, the code runs on demand across AWS's infrastructure. When a visitor opens your site, AWS provides the computing power for that request, then releases it.

What this means for uptime

We target 99.9% uptime on the sites we host, and serverless architecture is a big part of why we can say that with a straight face. Traditional hosting fails in predictable ways: the server runs out of memory, a neighbouring site on the same box gets attacked, a disk fills up. Serverless removes most of those failure modes, and AWS's redundancy handles hardware failures invisibly. Our care plans add uptime monitoring on top, so if something does go wrong, we know before you forward us a customer's screenshot.

And for your data

Every site we host runs on HTTPS, so data moving between your visitors and the site is encrypted in transit. Content stored on AWS sits encrypted at rest in secured, access-controlled data centres, and regular backups mean that if anything ever goes badly wrong, we restore rather than rebuild.
